Dear Friends, No doubt you have heard that our dear brother, Rev. Don Hamer passed away this week. Like most of you, I was shocked and saddened in a most profound way. I do not grieve for Don, as he is experiencing joy unspeakable and full of glory in the presence of his Lord, but I do grieve for his family and frankly for myself. I will miss Don profoundly, as will you. He had a way of making you feel like he was your best friend, that's because he was filled with the love of God, a genuine love for people and was generous to a fault.
Don was a fearless Christian soldier. On every occasion when it counted Don was in the trenches fighting for Christian values. He was a beloved pastor, an innovating educator and an outstanding community leader, as www.bettercourtsnow.com attests.
We all have great Don stories we could tell. Please, indulge me just one.
In the lead up to the 2008 November elections, I approached Don to help my organization produce seven short videos exposing Barack Obama's fake Christianity. Don didn't hesitate. He asked for nothing in return and took the all heat from the national exposure these videos created and never complained. You may want to watch them and remember Don. Even if you disagree with the message, it will remind you why we respected and loved him so much. He was honest, bold and compassionate all at the same time. See the link below that will lead you through all seven short videos.
Please pray for Don's family and church. May we take up the cause of Christ with a renewed vigor knowing that Don has joined that great cloud of witnesses watching us run our Christian race.
God bless the family, memory and legacy of Rev. Don Hamer!
A grieving friend of Don's,
Gary Cass
